Bulk Title Generator
Optimize your product titles for SEO and readability using AI-powered bulk generation.
The Bulk Title Generator is a specialized tool designed to help you rewrite and optimize your product titles at scale. A good product title is essential for both search engine rankings and customer click-through rates. It is often the first thing a potential customer sees in search results, so making it count is critical for your store's success.
You can access this tool by navigating to AI Product Tools > Bulk Operations > Title Generator.
Interface Overview
The Title Generator interface is designed to be efficient and data-rich, allowing you to process hundreds of products with just a few clicks while seeing exactly what changes are being made.
Product Selection List
The main area of the page shows a list of your WooCommerce products in a clear, tabular format. Each row includes:
- Checkbox: For selecting individual products or groups of products.
- Thumbnail Image: A small preview of the product to help you identify it quickly.
- Current Title: The title as it currently exists in your WooCommerce store.
- Current URL Slug: The web address (URL) of the product. This is important because you can choose to update it along with the title.
Floating Toolbar
As you scroll through your products, a floating toolbar remains at the top of the screen. This toolbar contains all the settings you need to configure your title generation. This design ensures that you don't have to scroll back to the top every time you want to change a setting or start the generation process.
Configuring the Toolbar Settings
The toolbar is where you define the rules for your new product titles. These settings allow you to balance SEO requirements with your brand's unique voice.
AI Provider and Model
Choose your preferred AI provider (like OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude) and the specific model you want to use. You can even add a custom model if your provider supports it. More advanced models are better at understanding the nuances of SEO and brand tone.
Title Length and Variants
- Title Length Limit: Set a range (between 10 and 300 characters) for your new titles. For best SEO results on Google, we recommend keeping titles between 50 and 60 characters. This ensures they don't get cut off in search results.
- Number of Variants (Pro): On the Pro plan, you can generate up to 5 different title options for each product. This is a powerful feature that lets you compare different approaches (e.g., one SEO-heavy title vs. one more creative title) and pick the winner.
Tone and Mode (Pro Features)
- Tone Selection: Choose from several tones to match your brand voice:
- SEO-Focused: Prioritizes keywords and search engine visibility.
- Professional: Clean, authoritative, and straightforward.
- Creative: Catchy, unique, and designed to grab attention.
- Technical: Focuses on specifications, model numbers, and precise details.
- Mode: Choose between Rewrite (create a completely new title from scratch) or Improve (take your existing title and make it better by adding keywords or improving the flow).
SEO Targeting (Pro Features)
- Target Keywords: You can enter specific keywords that you want the AI to include in the new titles. This is perfect for targeting specific search terms you want to rank for.
- Sources: Tell the AI which parts of your product data to use as inspiration. You can select Title, Category, Description, and Tags. The more sources you select, the more context the AI has to write a great title.
Generation Workflow
Follow these steps to optimize your product titles efficiently:
- Select Products: Check the boxes for the products you want to update. You can use the category filters to work on one group of products at a time.
- Configure Settings: Use the floating toolbar to set your desired length, tone, and keywords. If you are on the Pro plan, consider generating 3 variants to give yourself options.
- Start Generation: Click the "Generate (X)" button. A progress bar will show you the status of the batch. The AI will process each product individually.
- Review Variants: Once the generation is complete, the products will show the new title suggestions. If you generated multiple variants, you can click through them to see which one fits your product best.
- Approve or Reject: Click the checkmark to approve a title, or the "X" to reject it. You can also click the edit icon to manually tweak a title before approving it.
- Apply Changes: Once approved, the new titles are saved to your WooCommerce products. If you have the "Update Slug" toggle enabled, the URLs will also be updated.
Updating the URL Slug
The Title Generator includes a special toggle called Update Slug. If you enable this, the plugin will also update the product's URL (the "slug") to match the new title. This is highly recommended for SEO, as it ensures your keywords are present in the web address, which is a known ranking factor for search engines.
Updating your product slugs can improve SEO, but be careful if those products are already linked from other websites or social media, as the old links might break. We recommend using a redirection plugin to handle any URL changes.
Troubleshooting Common Title Issues
Titles are Too Long
If the AI keeps writing titles that exceed 60 characters:
- Check Length Slider: Ensure the slider in the toolbar is set to a maximum of 60.
- Reduce Keywords: If you have entered too many target keywords, the AI might be trying to fit them all in, which naturally makes the title longer. Try focusing on just 1 or 2 primary keywords.
- Change Tone: The "Technical" tone often results in longer titles due to model numbers. Try the "Professional" or "SEO-Focused" tone for shorter results.
Slugs Not Updating
If you enabled "Update Slug" but the URLs didn't change:
- Check Permissions: Ensure your WordPress user account has the permission to edit product slugs.
- Duplicate Slugs: WordPress won't allow two products to have the exact same slug. If the new title results in a duplicate, WordPress will automatically add a number to the end (e.g., "my-product-2").
- Caching: Your browser or a caching plugin might be showing you the old URL. Clear your cache and check again.
Variants Not Showing
If you only see one title option despite being on the Pro plan:
- Check Toolbar: Ensure the "Number of Variants" dropdown in the toolbar is set to more than 1 before you click generate.
- License Status: Verify that your Pro license is active on the Account page. If the license is expired or disconnected, the plugin will revert to the Free version's single-variant mode.
Best Practices for Title Optimization
- Front-Load Keywords: Place your most important keywords at the very beginning of the title. This helps both search engines and customers identify the product in a split second.
- Include Brand Names: If you sell well-known brands, always include the brand name in the title. Customers often search for specific brands.
- Avoid All Caps: While you want to stand out, using ALL CAPS can look like spam and might be penalized by some search engines or ad platforms like Google Ads.
- Use the "Improve" Mode: If your current titles are already decent, use the "Improve" mode to add SEO keywords without losing your original branding or unique product names.
- Keep it Readable: While SEO is important, remember that humans are the ones clicking. Ensure the title makes sense and isn't just a string of keywords.
- Update Slugs for New Products: Always update the slug for new products. For older products with established traffic, consider the SEO impact of changing the URL.
Complete End-to-End Example: SEO Overhaul
Imagine you notice your "Electronics" category has very generic titles like "Model X123" and you want to fix them:
- Identify Problem: You see that your headphones have titles that don't mention they are "Wireless" or "Noise Cancelling."
- Select Category: You filter the Title Generator by the "Electronics" category and select all 30 products.
- Configure SEO: You set the tone to "SEO-Focused," the length to "50-60," and enter the target keyword "Wireless Headphones."
- Generate Variants: You set the variants to "3" and click generate.
- Pick the Best: You look at the 3 options for the first product. Option 1 is too short, Option 3 is too long, but Option 2 includes the brand name and the "Wireless" keyword perfectly.
- Approve and Update Slug: You approve Option 2 and ensure "Update Slug" is toggled on.
- Result: Your product is now titled "Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Headphones - Noise Cancelling" and its URL is now
sony-wh-1000xm4-wireless-headphones-noise-cancelling. Your search visibility improves almost immediately.
